This site is dedicated to preserving and promoting the Koasati (Coushatta) language of Louisiana. It is a collaboration between the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana and the College of William and Mary.group

Koasati is a living language spoken by about 200 members of the Coushatta Tribe in Allen Parish, Louisiana, just north of Elton.200px-Map_of_Louisiana_highlighting_Allen_Parish.svg

Koasati belongs to a family of languages called the Muskogean family. The other members of the family are Choctaw, Chickasaw, Alabama, Apalachee, Mikasuki (Hitchiti), and Muskogee (Creek).
